BASIC FUNCTION:

Cosmetology program offers students the opportunity to learn and practice procedures and skills that will lead to acquiring a license and employment opportunities. It is a two-year program with post-graduate summer course to provide an opportunity for students to complete 120 hours of study needed to meet the 1,000 hour state licensing requirement.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. The classroom instructor will teach the competencies and skills needed to pass the New York State practical and written licensing exams through a program that meets the state required 1,000 hours of instruction and 125 hours internship.
  2. Instruct on properties of the hair and scalp, cells, anatomy & physiology; chemistry. Course will cover bacteriology; decontamination & infection control; care and artistry of natural and artificial hair, nail disorders; hair removals.
  3. Explain the salon business, financial planning, and different career opportunities.
  4. Demonstrate to students how to apply theory and skills, and strengthen competencies through hands-on experiences including a clinic open to the community and a salon internship.
  5. In addition to the classroom, the instructor will be responsible for supervising and evaluating student progress in the work areas.
  6. To be responsible for developing and evaluating course plans.
  7. To develop in each student an awareness and understanding coupled with the skills and knowledge in the industry.
  8. Instill in all students’ safe work habits, the importance of lifelong learning, and a work ethic that fosters reliability, competence, dependability and satisfaction with their own work.

Summer Teaching Assistant2026TA-N

Location:     Special Education - Airline Drive Academy or Maywood School

Dates:     July 6, 2026 - August 14, 2026 / Monday thru Friday @ 6 hours each day

Basic Function:

Assist the teacher in addressing the educational management needs of students within a special education classroom.

Responsibilities:

1. To carry out the organization of instructional materials and learning centers as planned and directed by the classroom teacher.
2. To monitor and reinforce skills and concepts previously taught by the teacher in individual or small group learning situations within the educational environment and under the supervision and control of the classroom teacher.

Summer School Teachers2026-N

Position:  Summer School Teacher (positions filled contingent on enrollment)

Location:   Educational Support Services – Regional Summer School (summer school will be held at Guilderland CSD & Schoharie CSD)

Basic Function:

Duties include providing differentiated, direct instruction and remediation for high school students that could lead to credit recovery.

Responsibilities:

1. Curriculum instruction, supervision and evaluation of students in need of remediation.
2. Students will require content and skills that will assist them in being successful throughout their summer school experience.

Dates:

July 7, 2026 thru August 13, 2026 - Monday thru Thursday @ 2-4 hours each day 

There will be a mandatory training on Tuesday, July 7th from 8AM to 1PM at the summer school location you will be assigned to teach.

Salary: $50.74 per hour salaries are paid on an hourly basis

Assistant Site Supervisor-Regional Summer School (anticipated 2 positions)2026-194

LOCATION:          Educational Support Services – TBD

DATES:                 May 18, 2026 - August 28, 2026

BASIC FUNCTION:

Assist with the supervision and administration all aspects of regional summer school programs in the district location listed above.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist the site supervisor with supervision of overall site operations, services and staff and students.
  2. Assist the site supervisor with the implementation of policies, procedures and/or processes for the purpose of providing direction and/or complying with mandated requirements.
  3. Assist with providing leadership and support to all summer school staff.
$53.00 per hour, not to exceed 150 hours
