Job Description

LOCATION:           Special Education - Scotia-Glenville High School

BASIC FUNCTION:  
To manage the academic, social and emotional needs of children with disabilities in various Special Education programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assessment, curriculum development (IEP) instruction and evaluation of students with disabilities. 
2. This teaching position requires deep knowledge of behavior management and trauma-informed instruction, as well as literacy, math and instructional skills concomitant to the Common Core Learning Standards.
3. Serve as liaison between students, regular educators, CSE and parents.

Job Qualifications

1. NYS teaching certification in Special Education or Students w/ Disabilities 7-12 or Students w/Disabilities-All Grades with either dual certification in a content area or Statement of Continued Eligibility (SOCE)..
2. Teaching experience with students who have a variety of disabilities.
3. Willingness and ability to embrace new challenges and ideas, and to work as an integral part of a team.

The selected applicant will be subject to a fingerprint supported criminal history background check in accordance with SAVE Legislation effective July 1, 2001.

Application Procedure

SALARY offer will be in accordance with current Teacher's Unit contract, commensurate with relevant experience and prorated to amount of service rendered.  BOCES employee salary commensurate with experience and in accordance with contract language.
