LOCATION: Career & Technical Education – Albany/Schoharie/Extension Center Campuses
BASIC FUNCTION:
To coordinate work-based learning programs for career development, such as the Cooperative Career & Technical Education Work Experience Program (COOP), the Career Exploration Internship Program (CEIP), and internship and youth apprenticeship/pre-apprenticeship programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate and implement NYSED approved COOP and CEIP programs and placements according to the requirements of the NYSED Work Based Learning Manual.
- Monitor the work-based learning program for compliance with state and federal regulations, and inform the employers of the regulations (i.e., training, child labor, safety, etc.).
- Make regular visits to student work sites and confer with on-the-job supervisors to check and evaluate students for grading purposes.
- Serve as a liaison between the school, parents, community, business and industry, and post- secondary institutions, including local Chamber of Commerce, NYS Department of Labor workforce committees, apprentice programs, career pathways, etc.
- When appropriate, provide sessions in ‘related instruction’ in CTE classes. Examples of such lessons such as work ethic, understanding the management/employee hierarchy, completing job applications, resume writing, interviewing skills, employability skills, etc.
- Support post-secondary programs including articulation agreements and career pathways consortia.
- Support CTE programs industry advisory boards and coordinate annual advisory board appreciation dinners.
- Assist with administrative oversight of work-based learning program.
