Location: Educational Support Services - 900 Watervliet Shaker Road
Basic Function:
This is routine work involving responsibility for the safe and prompt delivery of mail, documents, and related materials between county departments, school officers, banks and post office. Work is performed under general supervision in accordance with specific oral or written directions. Does related work as required.
Responsibilities:
1. Picks up daily mail and communications for delivery to various administration offices and buildings. 2. Runs errands and performs other general messenger work. 3. Delivers materials and supplies from office to office. 4. Receives, sorts and distributes mail. 5. Delivers bank deposits. 6. Performs simple miscellaneous clerical work.
A. Working knowledge of office procedures and practices. B. Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions. C. Knowledge of geography of the area. D. Willingness to learn and perform tasks assigned. E. Clerical aptitude; mental alertness. F. Trustworthiness, tact and courtesy. G. Good physical condition.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Must have a valid NYS Motor Vehicle License. This particular vacancy may require driving a BOCES vehicle to component school district locations. Due to BOCES insurance requirements, in order to drive a BOCES vehicle, you must have had a driver’s license for a minimum of three years and be 21 years of age.
The selected applicant will be subject to a fingerprint-supported criminal history background check in accordance with SAVE Legislation effective July 1, 2001.
SALARY: BOCES employee salary commensurate with experience and in accordance with contract language.
