LOCATION: Central Administration – 900 Watervliet-Shaker Road / Multiple Locations
BASIC FUNCTION:
The work involves responsibility for training, advising, and instructing school district personnel involved in using and maintaining human resources and other personnel management software applications as well as training, advising and instructing the school district personnel who use them. The incumbent also serves as a subject matter advisor when it comes to enhancing various human resources and personnel processes as they related to various functions including but not limited to onboarding, appointments, and personnel maintenance. The incumbent may assist with the implementation of the various applications as they integrate into the personnel processes. The work is performed under the general supervision of the Program Manager-Personnel Management Services. Does related work as required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works with participating school districts to understand and review various human resources and personnel processes in an effort to identify and improve inefficiencies.
- Trains and assists school district staff on software applications used to perform personnel management.
- Assists school district personnel with the implementation of the technology aspects of personnel management programs.
- Tests and installs personnel management software applications/updates and analyzes and resolves computer software problems either onsite or remotely.
- Assists participating school districts in customizing their software applications to ensure the various forms and functions meet their needs.
- Maintains an up-to-date knowledge on emerging theories and best practices in personnel processes and management systems.
- Meets with school district personnel and administrators to discuss requests for program changes.
- Maintains detailed written records on training and services provided.
- Works with participating districts to create and maintain written human resources and personnel procedures.
- Creates and edits training documents, manuals, revisions, and memos, newsletter, videos and other information pertaining to personnel management software used in a school district.
- Documents software changes requested by participating school districts and forwards it to the appropriate software company.
- Researches new and updated software before distributing it to a school district.
- Prepares and submits written and statistical reports related to Personnel Management Services.
- Participates in regional user group meetings for the support and development of personnel management services supported by BOCES.
- Performs related duties as required.
- Good knowledge of personnel management information systems and applications supported by a BOCES.
- Good knowledge of human resources and personnel management processes and procedures.
- Working knowledge of the laws, rules and regulations governing New York State school districts.
- Working knowledge of the personnel practices within New York State school districts.
- Working knowledge of the computer software industry.
- Working knowledge of standard office practices and equipment.
- Ability to develop, design, coordinate and/or deliver software training.
- Ability to utilize various software and computer database programs.
- Ability to problem-solve user hardware and software problems.
- Ability to form and maintain effective working relationships with others.
